AmeriCorps

AIM Institute seeks AmeriCorps members to serve as AmeriCorps College Access Coaches at our Austin site from September 1, 2023 – August 31, 2024. The applicant must possess a sincere interest in empowering youth and a passion for higher education and technology. Applicants should also possess the ability to carefully and strategically plan individual work goals in order to meet organizational objectives in a timely manner; ability to closely monitor progress towards these goals and take appropriate remedial action when necessary. Successful applicants are leaders with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Members must serve a minimum of 1,700 hours of service (an average of 40 hours/week) and complete their full contractual term of 10 months in order to qualify for the Eli Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.

AmeriCorps Benefits

Living allowance

All state/national AmeriCorps members receive a modest annual living allowance that is paid either biweekly (every two weeks). The amount of the living allowance is determined by the National
Corporation for Community Service and varies moderately by your service location.

Full-time new positions

Living allowance: $28,789/yr
Biweekly stipend: $1107.26

Education award

At the end of your service term, you’ll receive an education award of $6,895.00 for full-time AmeriCorps service roles that you can use to repay student loans or put toward future education expenses.

Comprehensive training

As an AIM Institute AmeriCorps member, you’ll spend your first two weeks immersed in comprehensive, hands-on training sessions thoughtfully designed to set you up for success in your service role.

Professional development

As an AIM InstituteAmeriCorps member, you’ll gain access to in-person and virtual professional development opportunities to build sought-after professional skills that can be transferred into any career path, including: team leadership, conflict resolution, multicultural communication, inclusion and equity, data management, facilitation and student coaching. You’ll also benefit from participation in a national community of practice with fellow AmeriCorps members and program staff to accelerate your skill building and broaden your network.

Healthcare coverage

Modest healthcare (medical, dental and vision) coverage plans are available.

Loan forbearance and interest accrual

At the end of your service term, you can apply for the government to pay the interest accrued on your loans during your term of service.

NOTE: Mandatory AmeriCorps training for this position will start on September 1, 2023, for pre-service orientation unless otherwise specified. This position will have recurring access to vulnerable populations. Members must wear the AmeriCorps logo, visibly, daily.

In the event of a local, state, or federal disaster declaration, AmeriCorps members may be asked on a volunteer basis or be required by OneStar to activate to assist in disaster response and recovery activities within their communities. This may involve virtual service opportunities or in-person service opportunities. This may include service opportunities outside of the member’s standard service hours or in place of their standard service duties. In the event of a large-scale, high needs local, state, or federal disaster, AmeriCorps members may voluntarily or be required by OneStar to deploy to an area outside of their service area to assist in disaster response and recovery activities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

AIM Institute is a dynamic, progressive and youth-focused working environment. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud. Responsibilities may frequently require an adjusted work schedule and/or evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines or satisfy program requirements.

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
