The Science of...Birds

An offering by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission

In a simple description birds are warm-blooded vertebrates and are the only animal that has feathers. But, birds are so much more than that! In Nebraska we have over 450 species of birds due to our interesting geographic location. We may not have penguins or flamingos, but do not discount all the interesting species that call Nebraska home. For example, we have a bird in Nebraska that will impale their prey on sharp thorns or barbed wire fencing. We also have a bird that will vomit all over a predator if they feel threatened, or…well, I could keep going, but just join us instead to find out more about the science behind birds in Nebraska!
