Join us as we dive into the world of coding. Campers will receive a BBC MicroBit, which is a pocket-sized computer. We will use this device to introduce how software and hardware work together through coding. MicroBits have an LED light display, buttons, sensors and more that you can program and physically manipulate.
Coding is an important skill to learn, it helps students problem-solving skills. Learning to code allows students to experience first hand how engineers use math in order to solve problems in a logical and creative way. Coding presents opportunities for failure which gives students a challenge and helps them develop resilience. Coding teaches children how to think and allows them to expand their creativity.
When should your student learn to code? As early as possible. Will they be writing complex code to land the next rover on Mars? Maybe someday but not in this class, students have to start somewhere and this is their place.
Camp Supplies must be picked up the Friday before camp in the parking lot of the the Scott Technology Center in Omaha. If you know you will be unable to pick up supplies you may select the mail option for a fee.
Each camper receives a BBC MicroBits kit to code with and keep after camp.
This camp will be held in a virtual setting.
