What’s the Advanced Tech Leaders Academy?

Advanced Tech Leaders is an annual management course for tech professionals. The program consists of one, full-day of training each month for seven months (October 2020 – May 2021). Each session will focus on a common on-the-job issue faced by tech managers.

Today’s IT managers need effective leadership and management skills to deal with the challenge of global competition and a changing workforce. To address this growing need, AIM and its business members have collaborated to create the annual Advanced Tech Leaders Academy. The goal of the academy is to enhance leadership skills that are essential for current and upcoming Tech Managers.


Advanced Tech Leaders will consist of an orientation, seven full-day sessions (one per month) and a graduation ceremony.

The Advanced Tech Leaders academy schedule has been set for the 2021/2022 cohort. This program will have sessions on Oct. 15, 2021; Nov. 5, 2021; Dec. 3, 2021; Jan. 7, 2022; Feb. 4, 2022; March 4, 2022; April 1, 2022; and May 6, 2022

How to Participate

You must apply to participate, and participation is limited. It is mandatory that participants attend at least six of the seven sessions to complete and graduate from the program.  Participants are also encouraged to attend a two-hour orientation in October.  Criteria for selection include leadership potential, motivation, ability to identify and meet tech challenges. The application deadline has been extended to September 30, 2020.  Applicants will be notified of their selection into the Advanced Tech Leaders Academy by no later than September 30, 2020.  Applicants are encouraged to reapply the following year if they are not selected.

2020-2021 Steering Committee

AIM is coordinating the program under the guidance and direction of a volunteer Steering Committee, comprised of IT managers from small, medium and large companies representing the region’s diverse industries.

This fee includes all materials, Emergenetics Profile® Assessment, meals, refreshments, local and national speakers, and access to unique leadership development activities and ongoing support that will lead to both substantive personal growth and a measurable impact on the sponsoring company.

Payment Schedule

Tuition payments for all participants enrolling in the Advanced Tech Leaders Academy are due in full on October 1, 2020. AIM will consider requests for payment arrangements. All such requests should be made in writing and state the circumstances warranting a payment plan and identify a proposed payment schedule. Cancellation Policy

In order for participants to receive a full refund, they must withdraw before Orientation. Participants who withdraw from the program during the period spanning the Orientation in October through the first session in November will be refunded at a rate of 50%. If withdrawal occurs after November 1, participants will be obligated to AIM for the full tuition amount. Refunds will be generated within 30 business days of receipt of the written notice of withdrawal.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be accepted from individuals working in the Omaha metro area. A Selection Committee selects participants based on the Information provided on their application form, criteria for selection includes leadership potential, motivation, ability to identify and meet IT challenges and interest in the program. The class size is limited. October 1, 2020 is the application deadline for the 2020-2021 session. Applicants will be notified of their selection into the Advanced Tech Leaders Academy shortly afterward. Applicants are encouraged to reapply the following year if they are not selected.
