Working Connections IT Conference

June 20-24, 2011

The AIM Institute and its Midwest Center for Information Technology (MCIT) consortium of community colleges presented the seventh annual Working Connections IT Conference at Iowa Western Community College June 21-25, 2010. The conference was designed to help IT faculty from community colleges and high schools, as well as IT industry professionals from businesses, stay current with trends and new developments in Information Technology.

There were five tracks available at the 2010 conference and an impressive group of instructors. Each conference track was five days of intensive, hands-on instruction, which allowed attendees to develop a thorough understanding of the topic. Use the menu on the sidebar to find the syllabus for each course and information about the instructor.

More than 80 IT educators and professionals from throughout the region attended this year's conference, held on the campus of Iowa Western Community College. This year's most popular tracks included Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010. Conference coordinator Dave Vankat said nearly all of the attendees reported the time spent at the conference was a very valuable professional development experience.

About Working Connections Conferences
The Working Connections conferences were started as a fresh, new approach to faculty development through a partnership of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), Microsoft, and National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET). The original goal was to help community college IT faculty stay current in their field through a one-week professional development event. AIM and MCIT have expanded the conference to include high school IT instructors as well as business and industry IT professionals.
