The Midwest Center for Information Technology (MCIT), a regional center for advanced technological education, partners with 10 community colleges in Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The center was created in 2001 through funding from the National Science Foundation. Building upon the success of our past efforts, our goal is to extend the impact of the Midwest Center for Information Technology to support regional systemic change producing IT graduates with the technical and non-technical skills and non-IT graduates with the IT skills desired by regional employers. |

| Objective 1 |
To foster the increased implementation of virtualization educational technologies across the region to better leverage the collective resources of the consortium. |
| Objective 2 |
To recruit and retain an increased number of underrepresented groups, particularly women, in IT programs of study. |
| Objective 3 |
To leverage AIM’s highly successful Careerlink website in establishing a shared data mechanism that supports the systematic evaluation of MCIT strategies and interventions, using student, faculty, and employer information contributed within and across each member college, from student recruitment through employment. |
Through it’s local and regional efforts, MCIT supports faculty development, increases students’ interest in information technology and increases student enrollment in educational programs focused on IT careers. All of these results contribute to developing a workforce better prepared to take on the challenges of today’s workplace. |
