Accepting IT Leadership Academy Applications Apply
now for the AIM Institute's new IT Leadership Academy. As today's IT
managers increasingly deal with the challenges of global competition
and a changing workforce, effective management and leadership skills
are needed more than ever. To address this need, the AIM Institute and
its business members have collaborated to create an annual IT
Leadership Academy. Participants will
attend a series of monthly day-long, issues-oriented seminars from
October
through May to learn about authentic leadership, global mindset,
strategic planning, creativity/innovation, IT talent development and
retention, communication skills, and self-management. Applications will

Grant to Provide After-School
Programs at Council Bluffs Schools Four
Council Bluffs elementary schools will offer new after-school programs
this year in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of the
Midlands
and the Community Education Foundation. Each site will serve
up to
60 students with free innovative activities five days a week, family
literacy programs and a two-week summer program. The AIM
Institute
helped the partners obtain a five-year grant from the Iowa Department
of Education to fund the new program. More...
Talent Mix Event Explores
Blogging as Recruiting Aid
A
crowd
of 100 human resource, recruiting and marketing professionals networked
and learned at Talent Mix, held at the Kaneko in early
July. Canadian
blogger Jason Davis, founder of the RecruitingBlogs.com
website, was on hand to discuss how blogging,
social networking and the Internet can help in recruitment
efforts.
Talent Mix, a quarterly social networking event offered
by the AIM Institute and Careerlink.com, a service of AIM, is open to
all HR professionals, recruiters and marketers

Working Connections Conference Earns Loyal Following

More
than 135 IT educators and professionals attended
the 2008 Working Connections Conference held in late June. Organized by
the AIM Institute,
the low-cost, five-day event attracted many repeat participants for
its hands-on training, networking, and sharing of IT successes
and
challenges. This year's most popular tracks included Office
2007 -
Advanced Integration, Longhorn Server, Advanced ANGEL, Flash 8, Office
2007 Certification, and Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign.
Overall, 92 percent
agreed the conference was a very valuable professional development
experience, and 97 percent agreed they would attend another Working
Connections Conference.
